Age of Wonders: Planetfall

Age of Wonders: Planetfall is a video game in the genre of global strategy, where the main focus is on turn–based mechanics on a huge map of the universe. The action takes place in a fictional world of the future, where there is a war between the leading factions for influence.

Review

A few decades ago, a huge area of the universe was occupied by the Star Alliance – a powerful coalition, under the rule of which there were thousands of planets. However, due to civil strife, the coalition broke up into hundreds of small states, which are now fighting among themselves for territories and resources.

Before the start of the campaign, a gamer can choose one of the key factions – each has its own goals, unique buildings, units, as well as bonuses for the economy, troops and science.

Gameplay

Among the main gameplay features of the Age of Wonders: Planetfall strategy, it is important to highlight:

1. The world map is created through procedural generation and is completely open for research.
2. The universe consists of secrets – in each 2 unique biomes, where you can install buildings for the extraction of food, the production of goods or to increase the level of technological progress.
3. Each faction has its own technology research tree, but all branches lead to the invention of weapons of mass destruction.
4. The battles take place in a step-by-step mode with a top view, in which the gamer and the AI alternately control the squads.
5. In addition to single-player gameplay, there is also an opportunity to confront real gamers in multiplayer.
